Package holidays from Sea Life Surveys

So, you want to go on a wildlife-watching holiday?

You quite fancy a package trip, with a small group of like-minded people ... Meet new friends whilst you let us guide you around some remote and scenic pieces of the countryside.

We offer a huge variety of cruises. From our Island Discovery to the popular Weekend Explorer. You can join a group, or we can tailor make a holiday to suit your needs.

Why not Scotland?

You like the ruggedness of the West coast of Britain; the idea of visiting some of the harder to get to islands – small communities, peaceful locations, Hebridean culture, more wildlife than people ...

What would you look for in a wildlife-watching package holiday?

  • Small groups?
  • Experienced guides?
  • Personal attention?
  • Amazing wildlife?

Have you thought about a package with Sea Life Surveys?

Aside from the fact that we are the UK’s first and most experienced whale and dolphin watch, you have the security that 2010 marks the 28th year of our family-run business. It is also important to us (and we hope to you) that marine research has always been at the fore-front of our wildlife-watching, working closely together with local charity the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust.

And what makes a SLS holiday different from all those other packages!?

For a good start, your all-inclusive break will be based on the beautiful Isle of Mull – recently advertised on BBC2. Local wildlife photographer and cameraman, Gordon Buchanan’s stunning film “Eagle Island” was described in BBC Wildlife magazine as “... spectacularly beautiful…would almost make you want to move to the Isle of Mull ...”

Our select group will be based on the Isle of Mull, with exclusive boat trips running out of Tobermory, on Mull’s north-east coast. Tobermory will be your Mull refuge, with evening meals cooked from local produce, by a local chef, and also providing you with packed lunches for your days on the boat. And if you want to take a half-day boat trip out of Tobermory Bay and see the local colony of Common Seals on Calve Island, we can always fit that in ...

What can you expect if you decide you want to come on holiday with us?

We offer a choice of 2, 6 and 7 day packages in the Spring and again in the Autumn. You will have your own skipper and wildlife guide/crew looking after your small group for the whole holiday. And with SLS, our holidays include (apart from evening meals) – your accommodation, packed lunches, boat trips, Land Safari (if included), guided walks, talks and presentations will all be covered in the price.

Your adventure begins in Oban, where you sail across to Mull on the ferry, with a chance to spot Harbour Porpoises en route. Sound tempting!? ...

So, what does this ALL-INCLUSIVE entail?

Well, obviously the longer you stay with us, the more you’ll experience ...

For all packages, our SLS Wildlife guide will meet and greet you in Oban for the Mull ferry. When you arrive on the island you have more time to get to know your Skipper and guide that evening, with an illustrated presentation on Mull, it’s wildlife and wild places. You will also have the opportunity of more evening activities, before or after dinner if you wish – let us take you on a guided beach walk; or stargazing; or just talk you through some of the surrounding islands’ single malts! Your travel on the island will be covered in the overall price, as you are chaperoned by us over land and sea.

Where is the accommodation and what is it like?

We use both bed & breakfast and hotels of a high standard, with a minimum of 3 stars. You can choose (subject to availability) from Glengorm Castle with its spectacular views to the Tobermory Hotel, Park Lodge and the Western Isles Hotel based in the heart of Tobermory. Perhaps you would like something closer to where we are based, like the Bellachroy Hotel in the quiet village of Dervaig, or nearby Druimnacroish Hotel that has a restaurant with a sumptous menu. A few miles away, above the yellow sands, there is the idyllic Calgary Hotel.
